A Veteran Blessing

Updated: Mar 4, 2019

Rising Hope has been a blessing to my family in so many ways. We discovered Rising Hope's veteran program shortly after my husband was medically discharged from the Army after serving 8 years and two combat deployments. He was diagnosed with mild PTSD and also a mild TBI as well as other medical issues. We heard a little about the benefits of horse therapy with veterans to help with PTSD symptoms, and most of what we heard was positive so my husband made the call.

The Rising Hope veteran program means the world to us, my husband has not only developed healthy coping skills from his lessons but has also developed an amazing friendship with Dakota, the horse he works with.

From the first day we met the horses we developed a connection, not just with the horses but also with the members of the Rising Hope family. They welcomed us with open arms and made my husband feel at home. The Rising Hope veteran program means the world to us, my husband has not only developed healthy coping skills from his lessons but has also developed an amazing friendship with Dakota, the horse he works with. Dakota is able to sense Brayden's mood immediately and offers whatever support is needed. The Rising Hope veteran program has been able to give my husband a healthy outlet for his PTSD triggers.
